The first time I opened it, I couldn't press anything
How Merini started, what it does and refuses to do, and how it makes money. Stated up front.
I used MT4 and MT5 for years, and I still remember the first day I opened one. I didn't know how to place a trade, how to set up a chart, or even which button to press.
Those platforms aren’t bad. They were built well, for professionals, and they still are. But every one of them assumes you already know. Someone who knows what a lot is, how margin gets calculated, why you place a stop at all.
You didn't fail to understand it. That screen never intended to explain itself to you.
So I built this instead. A place where the screen tells you what the numbers mean, and where you can try it all with no money to lose. That's how Merini started.
So what did I build
Practice comes first
Sign up and you get $10,000 in virtual funds on real-time prices right away. No install, no verified account, no deposit. Learning the controls while nothing is at stake is simply the right order.
Learning and doing live in one place
Read a free guide and try it on the same site. No hopping between one tool for charts, another to study, and a third to place the order.
The numbers stay visible
Before you place an order, the screen shows what share of your account it uses and how many times your account the position is worth. For a beginner the danger is less the loss itself than not knowing how big the bet was.
How this makes money, stated up front
When a trading tool is "free", somebody else is usually paying. Often that somebody is a broker, and the tool takes a commission (a rebate) every time you trade. In that arrangement the person who built the tool earns more the more often and the larger you trade. I did not want to build on that.
- Merini earns from subscriptions only. It takes no broker rebates and no referral fees.
- That is why it never routes you to a particular broker. You choose and open the account yourself.
- Whether you trade a lot or barely at all, the revenue here is the same. That is the point of the arrangement.
Things this will not do
-
No investment advice
Merini provides software and information. It does not tell you what to buy or when, and it promises no returns. Every trading decision is yours.
-
No broker recommendations
There is no affiliate or referral arrangement with any broker. Comparison information may appear here, but never in exchange for payment.
-
No invented data
Where a broker does not actually provide a value, such as order book depth, the field is left empty rather than filled. Plausible numbers make a screen look better and teach people to trust something that is not there.
-
No dressing up demo results as skill
Doing well on a demo and doing well with real money are different things. A demo is where you learn the controls and make your mistakes cheaply, not where you prove anything.
This is still early
Merini is a young service. There are not many users yet and features are still being filled in. I would rather not dress that up. What exists today is a demo terminal that genuinely works and a set of free guides, and I will not promise beyond that. If a screen blocks you or something does not make sense, send an email. At this stage that helps more than anything.
support@merini.comThe screen explains it faster than I can
Sign up and start with $10,000 in virtual funds. No install, no deposit.
